Farewell & Welcome
We had to bid goodbye to Dr. Kim, his wife Esther, and their two boys, Joshua and Caleb, who welcomed Ken and I when we first arrived here on Guam. We had the opportunity to have dinner with them at the restaurant, Pietro's, an Italian and Asian fusion cuisine, a couple weeks ago before the hustle and bustle of their move. Fortunately, Ken along with several others from the Korean church were able to see them off at the airport at 2:30 a.m., Thursday morning. 
In the afternoon of that same Thursday, a free health fair was held for everyone. Free health screenings and consults were given by some of the workers and providers of the Guam SDA Clinic, and from other outside professionals. Services provided for free were blood pressure checks, glucose checks, flu shots (supply of 200 shots, all gone within the first hour), eye examinations, and medical consultation. Approximately, 800 people signed up and registered for the free health screening. It was a successful fair! Praise God!
Saturday night was the beginning of the fourth evangelism seminar Guam has had this year, with guest speaker, John Triplett visiting from the US mainland from the ministry of Amazing Discoveries. Mr. Triplett's wife, Ritsuko, also works for Amazing Discoveries and is a oldtime friend of Ken's from his alma mater, University of Michigan. It was a nice mini reunion for them to catch up after 7 years. Here we are with the Mercado family and John and Ritsuko Triplett after potluck in Agat Church's fellowship hall.
Ken and I have been helping out with a couple of ministries earlier this summer, one held at the Alupang Beach Club for Guam's university students on Friday evenings and another small group Bible study held at our house Sunday evenings. Both had to be put on a hiatus due to the evangelism seminar, which will be held for almost a month. We look forward to starting the studies again after the seminar is done depending on how we can handle taking care of a baby at the same time. The opportunity to help out has been real rewarding. At the same time, we've been blessed and growing spiritually.
