This past weekend we spent the Sabbath outdoors on AWR's (Adventist World Radio)grounds. The engineers and organizers had set up the place so that there were areas ready for the children's Sabbath schools and a canopy for the main service.
A cool breeze came in from off the coast which helped keep us cool for most of the morning. This was a special Sabbath to enjoy nature, but also to fellowship with one of our brothers, Fred Christensen and his family, who will be leaving to go back to the mainland.
They have served as a missionary family here on Guam for almost six years, and they will surely be missed. As usual, our Agat church family held a hearty potluck and following that we took a church family photo which was probably the first in Agat church's history.
On Sunday, our neighbors, the Holm family, held a birthday party for their son, Micah, who was celebrating his birthday this weekend as well. Jasmine had tons of fun feet painting (her 2nd piece of creative artwork),
running through the sprinklers with Daddy,
and munching on delectable goodies (more like, nibbling on a celery stick). The afternoon was the time we had a chance to celebrate Mommy's birthday as a family. We headed to Cocos Island, which is 1 mile south of the southernmost tip of Guam.
This was a first for all of us, so we were excited to go to the resort for the afternoon. We took a ferry which is about a 10 minute ride to the secluded island resort. We strolled around and saw some caged Macaws (birds part of the parrot family) and peacocks, much to Jasmine's delight.
Also, we took a refreshingly cool dip in the pool and just relaxed. It almost felt like we were on vacation. We decided to end the day with dinner at a place called Jeff's Pirate's Cove, a place highly recommended for their burgers, but seeing that we're turning a new leaf and trying to eat healthier, we had their mediterranean falafel plate.
