New Year 2010

Goodbye 2009, hello 2010! Our family had a wonderful 2009. In a nutshell, our children reached many milestones in their first and second years of their lives, and Ken and I experienced many UPS and DOWNS with life, both for the good and growth in ourselves and with our walk with Christ.

As a tradition, the Guam S.D.A. Korean Church gets together as a family early morning to watch the sunrise at Pago Bay beach, then together have dduk gook (brothy rice cake soup) for breakfast at the church fellowship hall. Unfortunately, the children and I were not able to get up so early, but Ken joined in the festivities and brought back home some dduk gook for us. It was yummy!

Ken was not alone coming home, and brought with him his dear friend, Dr. Michael Orlich, who he had known from years past while attending pharmacy school at the University of Michigan. Dr. O is visiting Guam to decide whether he will take up a position offered to him here or elsewhere. After breakfast, we toured Dr. O around the south part of the island, to take photos at some of the beautiful lookout points. It was refreshing to see much of the island and all its beauty. Later that evening, we had invited a small group of young adults from our block and a few Bible workers, over to our house for dinner and vespers. It was a wonderful fellowship with the Holm family, Aaron and Casey Graybill, Erenly and Bryan Donker, Larae Woods, Mia Valentine, Steven Silva, Candy Sim, Ivy Roa, and Michael Orlich. Haystacks was the meal of choice prepared for the evening, and it was heartily enjoyed. Ken lead out in a Bible study following everyone's shared blessings and difficulties from the past year. After the Bible study, the group shared their new year's resolutions.

It was a great day to start off the new year with great fellowship and worship! May God continue to bless us this day and throughout the new year.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”- 2 Corinthians 5:17
