Final Celebration

The final celebrations for Guam SDA Clinic's 50th Anniversary have already come to pass. It was a momentous weekend.
The weekend's final celebrations started Thursday night. The concert was held at the Okura hotel, located along the tourist strip, where soprano vocalist - Patrice Pacis, and pianist - Jonathan Coo, performed.

Friday evening, an agape feast and communion service was held under the main tent on the clinic grounds. A special candle lighting renewal commitment was presented by clinic chaplain, Pastor Mateus Nambu. It was a humbling and sacred event for those experiencing communion for the first time. Ken and I were blessed with the opportunity that evening to render a duet entitled, "Give of Your Best to the Master."

Sabbath day was an island-wide and a full day's event. Thankfully it did not rain, but it was very hot and humid! Both the adult Sabbath School and Divine Services were held under the main tent, and several canopies were set up for the children's services. The sermon was presented to us by Southern Asia-Pacific Division's President from the Philippines, Pastor Alberto Gulfan Jr.
Potluck was a feast! Church members from the different SDA churches on island brought various delectable vegetarian dishes. There was more than enough food available to feed the masses. Following potluck was a Sabbath Musical Praise Concert and then a Sabbath Vesper's Program after that. Pastor Eliseo Jimeno (Grandpa Eli) and a few other pioneers presented their testimonies on how the clinic first came about.

On Sunday, the entertainment and health fair commenced a little later than expected, approximately 1 p.m. There were last minute things to set up. The guest speaker for the hour for the congratulatory message was, The Honorable Dr. Richard Hart, Chancellor of Loma Linda University. Following, was a ground breaking ceremony. The clinic plans to build a chapel and the wellness center in the next year. It's amazing to see how much success the clinic has achieved over the years through God's amazing grace.
